ACTUATION2015 simultaneously addresses the development and validation of standardised, modular and pooled EMA for all airframe systems. To achieve this ambitious objective, ACTUATION2015 gathers a critical mass of expertise in a wide range of skills (Component suppliers, Actuator suppliers, Actuation system supplier, A/C manufacturers, and Certification Authorities) and, especially for standardisation, the main stakeholders in the field.
The ACTUATION2015 Consortium has been drawn up in this spirit and the consortium gathers 54 partners. Goodrich Actuation Systems SAS, a UTC Aerospace Systems Company is coordinating the project.

The Institute Clément Ader (ICA) is a public research laboratory merging all research activities dedicated to Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering in the “region Midi-Pyrénées”. ICA is steered by the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Toulouse (INSA), one of the five public engineering schools of the INSA network . ICA typically involves 70 permanent professors/researchers, 30 technicians and secretaries and 80 PhD students. The ICA is made of 4 groups, among them the Modelling of Structures, Systems and Microsystems develops one of its research topics in the model based design of embedded actuators and actuation systems.
INSAT contributes to the model-based design and technological assessment activities. Its main contribution deals with the definition and implementation of preliminary design methodologies. Power capability, energy consumption, integration to airframe, thermal balance and reliability are addressed globally to enable optimisation at actuator level and to improve the robustness of the design. Estimation models are developed to get simulation parameters from a very few number of key design parameters. Simulation models are developed, from basic to advanced levels, for performance evaluation through system-level virtual prototypes.
